| Katoomba Skyway Winder comes to State Mine |
| The Katoomba Skyway Winder arrived at State Mine on Wednesday 3 May in three sections. This machine wound the skyway across the Jamison Valley for years and now, with the installation of a modern cable car at ScenicWorld, it has been put out to pasture. The old winder is an important part of the region's mining and tourism industries, having originally been used at the Glen Davis Oil Shale Works until the 1950s then being moved to Katoomba to operate the original Skyway. It will be restored for display at the mining museum. |
